Dad was born in Norway and immigrated to Vancouver, B.C., Canada with his family when he was 5. 3 years later they were able to move to Seattle, WA where they stayed until about the time he graduated from Garfield High School in 1939. They then moved to Silver Lake, WA (Everett). He joined the Navy in about 1944 when he was 25 and served as a ship's cook during the 2nd World War. On his return from the war, he opened an army surplus store, then a sporing goods store that he owned until about 1973. He married Maxine Constance Jarvis in Dec. 1954. Harold had 3 children with Maxine, Heather Irene (1955), Paul Timothy (1956), and Sonja Lea (1959). Maxine died in 1975. Hal re-married in 1985 to Elizabeth Radner Gwinn.
